Chancellor George Osborne is looking at 'closing a loophole that allows senior public officials to avoid thousands of pounds in tax by being paid through one-man companies' according to a national newspaper.

Modernising the administration of the personal tax system: a Consultation and a chance to have ...HMRC is currently consulting on the modernisation of the personal tax system and there is still time to have your say before the closing date of Friday 24th February. The background to this Consultation is the general drive towards ‘transparency’ in government and chimes with moves towards general tax simplification. We are told that this Consultation is also an attempt to connect with the 40 million or so of us paying PAYE and NICs to a system administered by HMRC which collects around £250 billion a year in income tax and underpins the funding of our public services.
